Kanye Working with Jay-Z, Beyonce, & New Album
by YaDig Staff on Feb.17, 2009, under Entertainment

Our boy Kanye is working his ass off right now. He is working on Jay-Z’s new album, The Blueprint 3, he told Sway on the The Wake Up Show

“I finished his album and he released four songs that were potentially gonna be on the album. So I gotta go back and do four. I just did one beat the other day in Hawaii — probably one of the best hip-hop beats of all time, if I do say so myself. I just gotta do three more beats and we’re done, ’cause he’s got classics. He’s got songs that are better than any of the things you’ve heard leaked.”

“You know what it was — every year I do two albums’ worth of really dope beats. This year, Common did his album with Pharrell, and I did 808s & Heartbreak and Blueprint 3. So just imagine the caliber of beats on the last two Common albums I did — Jay-Z has those types of beats. Those caliber of beats. A beat like ‘The People,’ that’s the highest caliber of beat.”
Kanye has also started on his next album, and is working with Beyonce on a new song. He told MTV.com

“I’m just gonna do what I’m gonna do and people are gonna love it because I do really fresh s**t. When I do it, I feel like I’m gonna rap, I’m gonna go back-and-forth on it. I feel like I’m gonna sing here and there. Because I used Auto-Tune so much, it put me in the mode of doing melodies. I got a new song coming out with Beyonce called ‘Ego.’ I don’t know why she wanted me on it. I didn’t use Auto-Tune, but I hit certain lines because I used it so much it’s like almost having training wheels. So it’s incorporating new styles.”
I am looking forward to Ye’ new album coming out. I had no problem with him breaking off and doing 808’s and Heartbreak. I challenge other artists to change things up a little bit and doing things a little differently. But Kanye dont forget you are not a singer. Please believe me I aint trying to hear you attempting to sing especially without Auto-Tune.

Here are some extra clips from Sway’s interview with Kanye:
Kanye on Wearing Tight Jeans: ”I see a lot of people wearing the exact same uniform and there’s nothing wrong with that. But at what point did hip-hop get so many rules? Hip-hop was about breaking rules. I’m one of the most hip-hop people on earth because I say and do exactly what the f— I wanna do and say, regardless of what type of backlash I get. The backlash I get right now — for dressing the way I dress or saying what I say or making music I do — that’s the same backlash I got in high school for being hip-hop. I was always two steps ahead and I thought that was what hip-hop was. The whole baggy jeans versus tight jeans thing — Run DMC, Fat Boys, they wore tight jeans with gyms shoes and that was hip-hop. Then people started wearing big jeans and that was supposed to be hip-hop. When I first did big jeans, people said that was ’skater.’ Now you think ’skater’ and that’s super tight jeans. … They keep trying to label me but the labels won’t stick.”
Kanye on the Sample of Run’s “Jockin’ Jay-Z”: “[Run] says, ‘I see you jockin’ J.C.’ But it sounds like ‘Jay-Z.’ And I had the idea from the last album. I was like, man, I just need to make a beat ’cause it just messes with people’s heads. Psychologically, they’re like, ‘How could he have said “jockin’ Jay-Z” 20 years ago? Jay-Z was not out.’ I love stuff that messes with people’s heads when it happens.”
Kanye on MCs Throwing Jabs at Him: “I was hooping the other day and was like, ‘Why do all rappers come at me?’ ‘Cause we were playing 21. And I was like, ‘Oh, rappers come at me ’cause I got 19.’ When you got 19 and you playing 21, everybody rushes for you and you gotta come with extra types of lay-ups and stuff. Basically I’m playing the game with 19.”
