Ya Politics – Michael Steele Head of RNC?

by YaDig Staff on Feb.02, 2009, under Ya Think

Oh those republicans are tricky little rascals aren’t they.  President Obama beat Sen. Hilary Clinton for the Democratic Nomination.  Then Sen. McCain all of a sudden gets Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.  Now President Obama beats Sen. McCain and now the Republicans gets african american Sen. Michael Steele to head up the whole RNC.

Come on Republicans you really think we cant see through this bullsh*t.  For everyone that wants to know that even though he is African-American he is a Republican through and through.  But a Big Yadig to Michael Steele though. Yeah

Are Ya Serious??????

by YaDig Staff on Jan.30, 2009, under Ya Think

This is probably the most disturbing video i have ever seen!

Two teens in Lagos Nigeria are caught stealing and there punishment….well just watch….

This is so fucked up in discussing this video with some of my esteemed colleagues here at  THEYADIG.com  someone said  ”Man thats how they get down over there the people ain’t even tripping over that see how they are watching it”.

I thought to myself that maybe true but I wonder how many people dont agree with it and are scared to say anything for fear that the same feat will happen to them.

For example  the protest and vigils held by Chinese citizens here in Chicago in front of the consulate protesting the horrible and torture of Chinese citizens in Tibet and all across china for there religious differences, come with no heavy penalty such as being burned alive or hung or publicly beheaded. Over there though might be a different story…

So before we are quick to say oh that’s how they get down over there and the people think that its the norm over there and are not bothered by it….think about the few that are horrified by the events they are seeing but are scared to speak out for they, there children and loved ones may too be subjected to the same cruel and unusual punishment.

And the next time some asshole cop pulls you over and gives you a ticket….and you bitch and moan cause you gotta go to court and take a day off work(just be glad you got to go to court!) cause you could be burned alive, beheaded, tortured, or you could be Sean Bell (the young man New York’s Finest shot  50 times), or  Oscar Grant (BART shooting victim where the arresting officer thought he was subduing the man with a taser gun only to realize it was his nine mm and he shot twice yeah right). Bottom line we complain about so much insignificant shit and don’t realize how lucky we are over here in the US steal food in America u cant come in the store anymore and might do a Lil time at the county….Steal food elsewhere because you are poor and never steal again because you will be executed!

Something to think about…….Ya Dig!

Police Office in BART Shooting has Been Arrested

by YaDig Staff on Jan.14, 2009, under Ya Think

It took long enough but the officer who shot Oscar Grant has been arrested and charged with murder:

Johannes Mehserle, 27, of Lafayette was taken into custody in Douglas County, Nev., said Deputy Steve Velez of the Douglas County sheriff’s office. The arrest was also confirmed by David Chai, chief of staff to Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums.

Mehserle was arrested in the New Year’s Day shooting of Oscar Grant, a 22-year-old supermarket worker from Hayward who was lying facedown after being pulled off a BART train by police investigating a fight. An Alameda County judge signed an arrest warrant alleging murder, and Mehserle surrendered without incident, authorities said.

The shooting, which was recorded by passengers in videos widely circulated on the Internet and television, prompted public outrage, and some viewers said that the shooting appeared to be an execution.

Sources said Mehserle was in Nevada because he feared for his safety after death threats were made against him. Douglas County is 15 miles south of Carson City in northwestern Nevada and includes part of Lake Tahoe.

Mehserle’s attorney, Christopher W. Miller of Sacramento, confirmed early today that his client was arrested on suspicion of murder. He said he would not comment further until a news conference today.

Alameda County District Attorney Tom Orloff was expected to announce details of the arrest today. He could not be reached late Tuesday.

Authorities have been under immense pressure to take action in the case. On Tuesday, BART board President Thomas Blalock and board Director Carole Ward Allen sent a letter to Orloff, urging the district attorney to move expeditiously to complete the investigation and file charges if warranted.

Some Oakland community leaders and civil rights activists said the case is symbolic of larger problems with police officers using excessive force on young black men. Grant was black and Mehserle is white.

The arrest came on the eve of a protest scheduled for 4 p.m. today outside Oakland City Hall, the latest in a series of demonstrations in which BART has been accused of mishandling the investigation.

BART police on Monday turned over the results of their preliminary investigation to Orloff’s office. A separate investigation by Oakland police was launched last week, and Mehserle’s arrest was related to that probe, sources said. The state attorney general is also monitoring the case.

Ok its nice that he has been arrested and charged but let this dude get off.  Oh let this man not have to serve any time. Oakland will be the biggest bon fire of all time.

Ya Joking? Ann Coulter on The View

by YaDig Staff on Jan.13, 2009, under Entertainment, Ya Joking, Ya Think

File:Ann Coulter 2007 (Cut image).jpg

Ok I didn’t know much about Ann Coulter until yesterday and saw her on The View.  And to say that she is just a chick that rubs me the wrong way is an understatement.  She was on to promote her book “Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims’ and Their Assault on America” here is a quote from her book.

Even grifters know that to be embraced by the cool people in America, you must claim to be a victim, preferably abused by religious fundamentalists.

In a related phenomenon, various half-black celebrities insist on representing themselves simply as “black” — the better to race-bait their way to success.

Actress Halle Berry, singer Alicia Keys, and matinee idol Barack Obama were all abandoned by their black fathers and raised by their white mothers. But instead of seeing themselves as half-white, they prefer to see the glass as half-black. They all choose to identify with the fathers who ditched them, while insulting the women who struggled to raise them.

In 2002, Berry engaged in wild race-baiting to win her Oscar and then ate up most of the awards show with an interminable acceptance speech claiming that her award was “so much bigger than me.” People who say “it’s bigger than me” always mean it’s just about them. During the 2008 campaign, Barack Obama repeatedly said the exact same thing: “This election is bigger than me.” Would they be able to pawn off their personal victories as transformative events for the nation if they were not claiming to be doing it for the blacks?

Lets just say that the ladies of The View didn’t like the tone of the book and went at her hard.  But she came back at them.  Especially B.W.

Ya Think??-The Academy Award for Best Actor goes to Heath Ledger??!!

by JamesBrandon on Jan.12, 2009, under Entertainment, Ya Think

Let me start this off by saying no disrespect to Heath Ledger. But does he really deserve an Oscar for his role of The Joker? Now i know we are a week or so away from the nominations coming out but this has been coming up for a while now and as we get closer to the date i felt the need to think about it for a bit

Was The Dark Knight a good movie? yes.. Did it change the way we look at superhero movies? once again yes.. Did Heath ledger put on a great performance? yes .. and no.. This is a classic case of us using death to overblow what someone was or were to become.

Ill admit when i first heard he had been cast for the role i was shocked. No way could he be the best choice for the role. But when the movie came out and i saw it I felt not only did they make the right choice but with his death it made it clear that we will never see the joker on screen again. I say that partly because he gave an awesome performance but also because once he passed away it become an all time great performance. Anyone that would try to play the role after him would be unfairly held to a standard that would be highly overvalued because of Heath’s Death.

This has been great for not only for the team behind The Dark Knight, but The Academy Awards as well. The Dark Knight went from just being a summer blockbuster to damn near Titanic based off of his death and the added buzz that it added to his performance. And The Academy well they havent had this kind of buzz in the mainstream since maybe Denzel and Halle both took home Oscars back in 2001. Lets be real can anyone out there name who won the past few best actors other than Jamie Foxx for his role as Ray Charles? Ratings have been down cause no one has heard of the movies, and even after they win nobody really cares to see the film.

Its almost the perfect storm for him to win. In this internet day and age we have all become prisoners of the moment. By that i mean that the latest thing is the greatest thing. I knew when i saw Training Day that Denzel had nailed it. His character was complicated. Was has he bad? Yes, but you also saw a lot of layers in his perfomance. He was conflicted in the movie went through some things. With Heath’s performance you just got crazy from begining to end, which he did a good job at, but it was straight forward no depth as they say. Yeah i said depth.

Bottom line is if he is nominated i will root for him to win, hell just so i can say i saw one of the movies that won a damn award. But would i put it up there as one of the greatest performances of all time?…..No.. If we are gonna judge the Dark Knight as a normal film, which is something we have to do when we start talkin oscars ,then it falls well short on what other actors brought to the table. Cant put it up there with Denzel in Training Day, doesnt come close to Sean Penn in Mystic River, Tom Hanks in Forest Gump, Russell Crowe in Gladiator, Hell anything Daniel Day-Lewis has done.

I could go on and on so while Heath Ledger put on a good performance and is this was a tragic story lets not let that get in the way of reality. But i cant blame the Academy if they do give it to him because its good for business and it gives us regular folks a chance to tune in and actually care about the Oscars again. As for the next Batman villian i guess we can always dust off The Govinator as Mr. frezze!!!

Ya Think? BART Shooting Illicit Riots

by YaDig Staff on Jan.09, 2009, under Ya Think

justice-for-oscar-grant.jpg

It has gotten crazy in Oakland after the shooting death of Oscar Grant with riots breaking out after news got out of the the shooting:

According to CNN, a riot has now broken out, and so far 105 protesters have been arrested. The protests began shortly after news of Grant’s death, and during riots some protesters laid on their stomachs to show solidarity with Grant’s position when he was murdered lying face down. Some wore signs on their back that read: “DON’T SHOOT.” Others got violent, setting cars on fire and smashing out windows.

If you haven’t seen the video yet well here it is:

After seeing that sh*t can you really be mad at the riots going off.  The officer that shot Oscar Grant has resigned but is getting death threats.  He better get into protective custody cause I dont see him making it a month.  Here are some photos of the protestors in Oakland:

Ya Think? Politics – Do You Understand Pres. Obama Economic Plan

by YaDig Staff on Jan.09, 2009, under Ya Think

Yesterday President-Elect Barack Obama had a press conference about the economy and basically said that sh*t dont look too good.  Now I got from the press conference that President-Elect Obama wants to introduce tax cuts and give another stimulus to the people to get the economy going in the right direction so I am thinking this is all a great idea.

But then I read the Chicago Suntimes this morning and see this:

A call for a $3,000 tax break for job creation drew particular criticism in a private meeting, and numerous lawmakers said Obama had not ticketed enough of his tax proposal for energy projects. The second-guessing game from the left and the right: While some Democrats said the incoming administration’s proposed tax cuts were too small, Republicans warned against excessive new spending.

So not everybody is too thrilled with this plan of action.  So since I dont know what to think I decided to call my man Dr. Marc Lamont Hill of Temple University to break all of this down for me. Dr. Hill is considered a “hip hop” intelectual:

His work, which covers topics such as hip-hop culture, politics, sexuality, and education, and religion, has appeared in numerous journals, magazines, books, and anthologies.

So I figured he would be the perfect person to break all this economic stuff down so even I can understand it.

Ya Think? Ne-Yo Has Suggestions for Haters

by YaDig Staff on Jan.09, 2009, under Entertainment, Ya Think

Ne-Yo Has Choice Words for the Haters, and Gossipers

So I am working my way around the web and I see on Necolebitchie.com that Ne-Yo blogged about all the rumors about him:

One rule of being a gentleman is to keep your cool and composure at all cost, but right about now I gotta loosen up this tie and take off this expensive suit jacket and talk to the people for a minute. The haters especially.

Pardon my french, but what the f*ck is wrong with y’all!?! Are you so desperate for an R&B bad guy that you gotta find a way to create one in me??

Okay, the comment about light skinned babies…….an obvious joke, maybe not a good joke, but clearly a joke.Y’all REALLY took that serious!?!I understand that a hater’s job is to hate, clearly. But it’s when people start feeding in to what a hater is saying that something must be addressed.

The whole gay thing..For goodness sake it’s been 4 years!!!! Y’all still on that huh?

The whole “boys” song, and the song “go over there”. See this is what happens when people steal. These songs were clearly written for women. Had you been patient, you would have heard them the way they were supposed to be heard, with the voice of the intended artist on em’. But noooo, someone gets a hold of these demos and suddenly everybody forgets that I write songs for women. Riiight.  I tell People Magazine that Young Jeezy’s crib is right next to mine and that once I saw him in there from across the way. I then make a JOKE about him maybe not wanting to walk around naked in his crib with the shades up cause the buildings are THAT close to each other, and that AIN’T something I care to see. Suddenly, everybody thinks I said I saw Young Jeezy in his crib nakedwhen, NEVER ONCE did I say anything like that.

I mean come on people. Is this really what you’re gonna spend time on??

Will you not be satisfied until I truly become this a-shole you so desperately want me to look like?? Here’s my stand on the whole thing:

I’m NOT gay, I’m NOT prejudice to anyone, I DID NOT get stomped out by Jim Jones or anyone else, I’m NOT engaged, I’M NOT STUPID.

And to anyone that INSISTS on thinking that any of these things are true……F*CK YOU.

To the haters….find some new material please!!! It’s 2009, our president is black!!! Time for change.

To everyone else……I love you to death, thanx for all your support.WE PLATINUM ROUND HERE!!!!!

Much love, and see you at the grammy’s.

Check the suit…..it’s gonna be TROUBLE!!!

Its about time he said something about this.  I know he thinks that he shouldnt have to but damn there is only so much an artist can take before they stop doing interviews all together.

But Ne-Yo must remember that you haven’t made it in this here RnB game unless you are thought to be gay.  Name one RnB artist that at one time they weren’t thought to be gay. And also never tell jokes in print interviews you never know how its going to look on paper.
